It maintains its shape whether it’s uppercase or lowercase, but the lowercase version goes further in depth, making it even easier to learn.
Normally, writing this letter isn’t particularly difficult, but how about you start turning it into more creative shapes and forms?
In this guide we are going to tell you how to learn how to draw the bubble letter P in just 6 easy and fun steps. In addition, later we will also see some fun ideas to make it even more unique!

How to Draw A Bubble Letter P
Step 1
When drawing this type of bubble lettering, we often use a pencil first to plan it out. No one will ever see this schedule and can make the form more accurate.
All you would have to do is draw a P in your preferred writing style. This would also be a good way to plan how big it will look on the page.
You can try to draw it without this guide, but it can be a great way to make it easier. It’s up to you, but either way we’re ready to go!
The letter P has a columnar back on the left side. That’s where we start, with a curved vertical line.
The reference image we provided shows you how it should curve in preparation for the next few lines. If you are happy with the look, we can move on to step 2 of the guide!
Step 2
Step 2 will be very simple and we will complete the line that you drew in the previous step. In this step we drew the side of the column to the left of the letter.
In this second phase we will draw the base of this column. Continue where the previous line left off, curving inwards and then upwards.
The reference image shows you how it should look and you can draw it slowly to make sure it’s smooth. If you can combine the lines from steps 1 and 2 into one stroke, it will be smoother.
When this part of the column is ready we move on to step 3 of the instructions where we finish the outer outline of the letter.
Step 3
There is now a large empty space on the right side of the bubble letter P, which we will fill in this step. As you can see in the reference image, this is done with a single curved line.
This is one of the longest lines in this drawing, so it can be a little tricky if you’re in a hurry. You can choose to start at the top or bottom of the remaining empty space.
Once you’ve decided where to start, try to keep your hand as still as possible while adding the rounded line we show in the reference image.
Try to make it as round as possible for a bubble-like effect. When it’s drawn, you’re done with the outer outline!
If you drew a pencil guide to help, it would be a good idea to erase it now as you won’t need it and it would make drawing the interior details more difficult.
Step 4
Now that the outline of the letter P is drawn, let’s draw the inner outline. For a regular letter P, this inner part is usually more circular, but we’ll take a different approach.
Our goal is to make this P look like it’s made out of a bubble, so we’re going to shape the hole in the center to better match that look.
Instead of a rounded shape, it will look more like the letter D. The reference image shows what it should look like.
You’ll also see in the reference that the bottom left line of the letter overlaps a bit. This is to make it appear as if the balloon material it would be made of is balling up on itself.
With this drawn into the letter, the next step is to get us ready for the finishing touches.
Step 5
In this part of our guide, we’ll take a further look at the schematic you’ve completed by adding some internal details. The letter already looks like a bubble, but these details will help make it look even more.
First, let’s add a small detail to make it look even more like a balloon. This will be in the shape of a small oval.
We chose to place it in the top left corner of the letter, but you can place it anywhere else in the letter.
This small oval gives the impression that light is reflecting off the surface of the letter, making it appear a little less flat on the page.
Next, let’s add some lines along the inner contours of the letter P. This makes the letter look even less flat and more like a rounded object with depth.
You can reproduce it as in our reference image, but feel free to add these lines elsewhere.
Before proceeding, be sure to add any other details you might like! These can be inserted into the larger one as patterns or small shapes within the outlines.
Or you could draw a background and maybe add some more letters next to it! Whatever you decide, we can move on to the last phase when you’re done.
Step 6
Now it’s time to finish off your drawing with some color! This is a step that gives you a lot of leeway and creativity.
For now, let’s stick with the color scheme we chose for our example. We chose the color pink because it starts with P!
The colors are darkest at the bottom of the letter and lighten near the mark we drew earlier. Varying the hues can help make this letter look like it’s made out of a bubble or balloon.
Pink would be a great color for this letter, but you can use any color you like! You could also stick with the P theme and use purple instead, but any colors you like would be great.
You may also find ways to use more than one color in the design, such as adding a pattern to the letter.
Another way to create awesome color variations would be to use some fun art tools and mediums and some craft supplies.
